Hamworthy is a parish and inner suburb of Poole. It is sited on a peninsula of approximately 3 square kilometres (1.2 sq. mi) that is bordered by Upton to the north, Poole Harbour to the south, Lytchett Bay to the west and Holes Bay to the east.
Hamworthy was the site of an Iron Age settlement before it was taken over by the Romans in the 1st century and named Moriconium. The Romans made use of the harbour and built a road from Hamworthy to Badbury Rings.
It has a railway station, with a twice hourly South Western Railway service to London Waterloo on the South Western Main Line.
Nowadays local residents are transforming the houses & bungalows into super homes hence why it is now known as 'Hambanks' as it is soon becoming the next Sandbanks.
